I recently purchased the Fujifilm X100V, and I’ve been loving it. It’s compact, fun to use, and has made me take more photos than ever. However, after a few days, I noticed that storing pictures was significantly slower than before.
At first, I thought the issue was with my SD card, so I tried multiple cards—but the problem persisted. Eventually, I performed a factory reset, which fixed the issue. This made me suspect that it was related to a camera setting rather than hardware.
So, I went through every setting one by one until I finally found the culprit.
Solution:
Change the CLARITY Setting to 0
It turns out that the CLARITY setting is what’s slowing down the image processing.
If CLARITY is set to anything other than 0, the camera takes much longer to store images.
To fix this:
- Go to your X100V menu
- Find the CLARITY setting (inside the Image Quality settings)
- Set CLARITY to 0
Once you change this, your camera will save images much faster again!
Why Does CLARITY Affect Speed?
The CLARITY setting applies additional processing to every image, similar to adding a contrast adjustment. While it can enhance the look of your photos, it requires extra processing time, which causes the delay.
If you need the CLARITY effect, it’s better to apply it in post-processing (Lightroom, Capture One, etc.) rather than slowing down your shooting experience in-camera.
